The World Cultural Heritage List is a list of natural and cultural monuments designated by UNESCO's World Heritage Committee and recognized as having significant value for the whole world, whose protection is guaranteed by the state authorities of the country where they are located.
The purpose of creating the World Cultural Heritage list is to implement international cooperation in the protection of values that belong to all people. Since 2004, 788 monuments belonging to 134 countries have been included in the regularly updated list. 617 of them are cultural, 154 are natural, and 23 are cultural and natural monuments. In 1972, UNESCO adopted a resolution consisting of 38 articles. In the resolution, it was noted that the world heritage should be protected by everyone. 175 countries joined the resolution. 21 of them are members of the World Heritage Board.
