Shusha has been the cultural capital of Azerbaijan since 2021. Called "Little Paris", "Cradle of Culture", "Temple of Art of the Caucasus", "Conservatory of the East" at different times, this city stands out not only for its natural beauty, but also for being a true cultural center. The architecture of the city is the main indicator of culture and architecture. Every street, every neighborhood, every house in Shusha is a mark of history. According to archival documents, 549 ancient buildings, 17 mosques, 6 caravansaries, 3 tombs, 2 madrasahs, several churches and monasteries are located in the city. All these historical monuments tell about the cultural history of the city. Being the center of the Karabakh Khanate it played a special role in the cultural development of the city. Shusha, as the capital city, has always created cultural, economic and political relations with other cities of Azerbaijan and neighboring states, and has always been in the center of attention.
