Chingiz Aitmatov, People's Writer of Kyrgyzstan, laureate of numerous awards, was born in the village of Shaker, Kyrgyzstan. He studied first in a village school, then in a school in the district center. During the Second World War - in the summer of 1943, when the number of men in the village decreased due to the fact that most people went to the front, 15-year-old Chingiz Shekar was appointed the secretary of the Village Council. Later, he studied at the zoo-veterinary technical school in Jambul, as well as at the Kyrgyz Agricultural Institute, graduating in 1953.
