Mammadvali Kamina

Mammadvali Kamina

No information about the life of Mammadvali Kamina (1770-1840) has come down to us.  Information about his life remained only in folk sayings and legends.  Therefore, Turkmen scholars have collected a lot of information from the people's memory, especially from the language of Kamina's descendants, in order to study in detail the period and life of Kamina, starting from the last centuries.  On the basis of these materials, his biography was clarified, his personal life was clarified to a certain extent, and the conditions under which the great poet lived were determined.  According to those materials, Mammadvali Kamina (according to some information, her name is Valimammad) is from the Toglular branch of the Vakil tribe of the Turkmen single race.  The meaning of his nickname "Kamina" comes from the Persian word "kam" and means "one who considers himself small, low", and figuratively means "humble, poor,".  It was no accident that the poet took the pseudonym "Kamina".
